HYDRAULIC TYPE

The EUROPCORR® two inch system high pressure hydraulic retrieval tool works on the hydraulic principle. Unlike the mechanical retrieval tool the hydraulic tool has no external moving parts which in a certain way makes the tool much safer during retrieval operations, reduced risk for accidents and injuries. Another advantage is the size and weight of the tool which almost half the size and weight of the mechanical tool, this advantage allows the access of a monitoring system at location where space is very limited. Less than half the discharge of traditional systems, improved safety in sour service.

The EUROPCORR® hydraulic retrieval tool allows the installation and removal of various monitoring devices from pipelines and vessels under full operational pressure through a EUROPCORR® hydraulic access fitting. The hydraulic access system has no threads inside the access fitting, the plug is kept in position by locking pins and a heavy duty cover. This feature eliminates thread damage and galling problems (e.g. seized plugs) frequently encountered when using mechanical systems. Can be used on existing, traditional 2" access fitting system by means of a Hydraulic Access Fitting Adapter.

The EUROPCORR® hydraulic retrieval tool must be used with EUROPCORR® service valve and with either a hand pump or air pump. Air pump is recommended, to operate the air pump 85 psi (5,8 bar) air pressure and a minimum of 12 cfm (340 l/min) is required. Hand pump for use when pressurise air is not available.

The EUROPCORR® hydraulic retrieval tool kit is supplied with service valve, hydraulic pump, hoses and other accessories such as steel brush and brass hammer contained in a sturdy field service box.

The service valve comes in single or double isolation versions, one of the safety features of service valve is its two bleed valve design. One valve bleeds to atmosphere and supplements the bleed valve on the retriever, ensuring that the pressure within the assembly may be released. The second bleed valve bypasses the service valve's ball, which allows pressure in the retriever assembly to build up smoothly, preventing the assembly from being unnecessarily shocked. This also allows the ball of the valve to be opened easily, since the valve seats are no longer under load.
The service valve provides a temporary seal at the access point while the monitoring device is removed for inspection, maintenance or service. An optional diverter hose is available so that the fluid within the assembly may be contained in a tank (as a means of sampling) or released elsewhere. The diverter hose may be connected to either the retriever or the service valve.
Depending on the length of monitoring equipment being installed, one retriever and service valve may be used to service many access fitting locations.
Note that single and double isolation service valves require different Retrieval tool length. See table at next page.
Retrievers and service valves are hydro tested after assembly to ensure proper field performance.
The main components of mechanical/hydraulic retriever and services valve are manufactured from stainless steel, and they receive a chroming treatment for resistance to mechanical/corrosion damage and to ensure many years of reliable service.

MECHANICAL TYPE

The EUROPCORR® two inch high pressure mechanical retrieval tool is specially designed for safe and easy installation and removal of various monitoring devices from pipelines and vessels under line pressure through an EUROPCORR mechanical access fitting assembly.
The EUROPCORR® retrieval tool must be used with the EUROPCORR® service valve.
The main components of the EUROPCORR® retrieval tool are:
- Outer barrel
- Inner barrel
- Mandrel rod
- Thread adapter
- Socket adapter assembly
Sealing system is achieved by the use of Viton o-rings, PTFE back up rings and Graphite impregnated PTFE seals.

The EUROPCORR® retrieval tool works on the principle of balanced pressure. This safety feature ensures that in the event of sudden pressure release from the system, the retriever will not telescope. The resulting balanced pressure allows the tool to work at full operating pressure up to 6000 PSI (420 Bar), the maximum temperature rating is 450 °F (232°C)
A bleed valve and pressure gauge are incorporated in the retrieval tool allowing to bleed off the line products and to determine the pressure inside the tool.
Different stroke length of retrievers are offered to cover most service requirements.

The EUROPCORR® retrieval tool kit is supplied with service valve, steel brash and brass hammer contained in a sturdy field service box.
